My Interests and Aims: Having a degree in Biomedical Sciences, I have become increasingly interested in one of the smallest entities of life, DNA, as well as genetic engineering. With biotechnologies from biopharmaceuticals to biofuels, science has seen profound developments since the discovery of DNA by Watson and Crick, improving human health and reducing our environmental footprint. My interest in the application of biotechnology to cosmetic ingredients has arisen in recent years, from anti-ageing ingredients to UV-suncreen protectants. Through this blog I wish to inform others about biotechnologically derived cosmetic ingredients, including the ethical issues surrounding cosmetic testing on animals.
